who were married before 1831 in Saxony, Germany. Henry was one of 13 children born to this couple including Friedrich Ernst; Christian Ernst Moritz; Christiane Wilhemine; Maria Augusta; Ernest Friederich or Friedrich; Wilhelmine or Wilhemina; Amalia, Amelia, Amelie, or Emelia; Henrietta or Henriette; Johanne Rosa Rosina or Rosine; Reka; Henry; Alfred; and Susan JOEHNING, all born between 1831 and 1856.
Henry married Julia SCHMAHL or SCHMALL (1855-1902) in 1874, and they had 6 children including Alfred Henry; George Alexander; Dr. Herman F. Schmahl "Doc"; Grover Cleveland; and Carlisle JAEHNING, all born between 1875 and 1894. Henry died 8 Jan 1927 in Minneapolis, MN and is buried in the Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls, MN. Records also have the name spelled as JAEHIG or JAEHNING or JAHNIG or JOHNING.
